Biography

 

Diego Augsburger is a founding partner of Columbus Merchant Banking. He has 20 years of experience in the Investment Banking industry and has participated in the origination and structuring of capital market deals, in corporate restructurings and in M&A deals. Disclosed transactions where he had leading roles include the advisory to Parmalat Spa in the acquisition of Gandara-Lactona, the advisory to the shareholders of Tía S.A. in the sale of the supermarket chain to Supermercados Norte, the debt restructuring processes of Siderar, Banco Hipotecario, Telecom Argentina, Transportadora de Gas del Sur, Arcor, Sancor and Iplan, and the sale of Leader Price supermarket chain, among others. Prior to joining Columbus, he was a Senior Vice President of Citibank/Citigroup until July 2005, responsible for debt structuring and syndication. He also held a number of different positions in the investment banking team, both in Buenos Aires and in New York. After the Argentine crisis of 2002, he was responsible for the restructuring of private sector debt, and prior to this assignment he was Head of Fixed Income, managing a team responsible for all bonds and syndicated loan issues for Argentine borrowers, both public and private. Mr. Augsburger was also a key member of the project team that instrumented the merge of the corporate finance units of Citicorp and Salomon Smith Barney after the Citicorp-Travelers merge in 1998.

 

Mr. Augsburger holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration and a Certified Public Accountant degree from the University of Belgrano in Buenos Aires. Additionally, he is a professor at the Masters in Finance at Universidad Torcuato Di Tella.
